Privacy
This site tells stories. It does not follow you around. Here is everything it collects, why, who touches it, and how to make it go away.
What we collect
Nothing, unless you give it to us. If you send a story through The Mailbox, we keep what you typed: your name or alias, your email, where and when it happened, the categories you ticked, the story, whether Carol Ann may write back, and whether you asked for the email list. We also keep a scrambled version of your internet address (a one-way hash, not the address itself) for a short while to stop the form being abused, plus your browser's user-agent string.
There are no advertising cookies, no analytics scripts and no social-media pixels on this site. Cloudflare, which hosts the site, sees ordinary web traffic the way any host does and shows us only aggregate counts.
Why
- Your story
- So Carol Ann can read it and, if it fits, tell it. The permission you give when you send it is written out on the form; in short, we may use, edit and retell the story in videos and on this site, with or without your name, and you keep every right to tell it elsewhere.
- Your email
- So she can ask a question if a detail matters. Nothing else is done with it unless you also asked for the newsletter.
- The email list
- Only if you left the box ticked. Kit, our newsletter service, sends one confirmation email first; if you do not confirm, you are not on the list. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link.
- The hashed address
- Rate limiting and spam. It cannot be turned back into an address.
Who handles it
Brain Spanking Media, LLC, the company behind The InBetween, is responsible for it. Three services do the plumbing on our behalf and see only what they need: Cloudflare hosts the site and stores submissions; Kit runs the email list; Resend delivers the note that tells Carol Ann a new story has arrived. If a story becomes an episode, it is published on YouTube and on this site under the permission you gave. We do not sell, rent or trade your information to anyone.
How long
Submissions stay on file until you ask us to delete them, because a story sometimes waits years for the right episode. The hashed address is discarded after ninety days. Newsletter details stay until you unsubscribe or ask to be removed.
Your side of it
You can ask to see what we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted, including a story you have changed your mind about that has not yet been published. Write to inbetweentales@gmail.com from the address you used and we will sort it out. If you live in the European Union, the United Kingdom, California or anywhere else with its own privacy law, those rights apply and we honour them the same way.
Children
The Mailbox is for adults, or for younger people with a parent's or guardian's permission. If a story reached us from a child without that, tell us and we will remove it.
Changes
If this page changes in a way that matters, the date at the top moves and the change is noted here. The permission you gave with a story is the version that was on the form when you sent it.
