THE INBETWEEN
Carol Ann at her desk, mid-sentence, one hand raised to make the point.
Host of The InBetween

Carol Ann

Caught mid-sentence, which is how you usually find her. She has just reached the part of the story nobody else mentions, and she is about to tell you why it matters.

Since 2017

Her voice, a small team behind it

There is no narrator for hire and no script farm. Carol Ann researches and writes the stories she tells, and when the calendar is full her husband, Mr. InBetween, digs in and starts a project for her. Then she takes it apart and rebuilds it until it is very much her own. The edit is planned on the page, long before the footage exists, then handed to Gen, the editor, who makes it TIB-worthy. Hundreds of strange but true tales so far, told with skepticism and wonder in equal measure.

Int. The Room. Night.

One lamp. Carol Ann, at the desk, a folder open in front of her. She looks up.

Here is the part nobody mentions. The search party found the boots. They were still laced.

Cut to: the map. Hold on it.

Which raises a question the report never asks.

Music turns here.

01

Research

Archives, witness accounts, old maps, the original reporting. If a claim cannot be traced, it gets said out loud as a claim.

02

Writing

The script is the episode, and it ends up in her hands no matter where it started. Carol Ann and Mr. InBetween plan the cut here too: the clever clip, the quip, the beat where the music should turn.

03

On camera

In her own room, talking to you the way she would across a kitchen table. Yes, she is actually that animated. No, that is not going to change.

04

The edit

Gen takes the script and the footage and builds the episode. No fast cuts, no shouting. The story sets the pace. Meet the team.

Off the desk

Live, with the lights up

Twice so far, the stories have left the studio. Once to the public library in Pineville, Kentucky, for a town hall with a few other channels, after a day of boots-on-the-ground goblin hunting in Hellier. And once to a stage in Minneapolis, a chair, a room full of people who came to hear the strange parts out loud, and a camera in the aisle for the ones who could not be there. Same stories, same Carol Ann. No pause button.
